Corelator Service

CorelatorService correlates users network failure with atmospheric discharges. Most common users of this service are electric distribution and transmission companies. When the cause of power line failure is lightning strike, the service shows to the user the exact location of lightning strike, so fixing the failure is more effective. The result of correlation is additional information to data, obtained from fault locators.

Correlation process is based on time and location correlation. Both of correlation must fit to certain criteria that we can say with certain probability that lightning strike caused the power line failure. For correlation certain input data must be provided:

  • System SCALAR lightning strike data
  • Power line failure from users SCADA system
  • Power line GIS gegraphical data

Power line correlation are receiving special attention, because are one of the validation process in lightning strike location detection.

Correlation service is shown in ScalarFlashClient application.
