SCALAR system provides following services:
The core mission of SCALAR system is localization of atmospheric discharges and collecting its parameters in archive database. These parameters are:
- stroke time with precision of ± 300 ns,
- location,
- amplitude with polarity,
- number of return strokes,
- minor and major axis of error ellipse,
- inclination of ellipse,
- quality parameters,
- flash type.
Flash data is displayed in user-friendly manner with the help of modern information technologies and represents the foundation of all SCALAR system services. These are used by variety of users with different purposes: weather observation and forecasting, planning, development and mainteinance of electrical and other overhead wired networks and also civil engineering and insurance business.
